Expanding Your Business Through Marketing & Technology

Content Management Systems - Take Control Of Your Website

clock October 31, 2008 01:42 by author sburkey

I'm seeing a lot of companies start to practice some of the same cost-cutting and "buckling down" in their businesses that most of us have done recently in our personal lives. Obviously 2008 is a tough year for many families, and businesses, and there are some cost-cutting measures that can be taken to make your dollar stretch.

One of the service offerings that Solar Velocity is doing an increased amount of work with right now is the content management system. (CMS) Content management systems allow a company to update their website without having to pay an outside shop to do it. CMS is often browser-based and is as easy as logging onto a secure area of your website to fill out a form and edit content in real-time on your public website. Besides editing basic text you can upload images, videos, Flash movies and even custom "user controls" like calendars and RSS feeds.

Here are some other custom features of our standard, out-of-the-box, CMS system that we deploy for our customers at Solar Velocity:

Features:

· WYSIWYG Editor

· Drag & Drop Page Editing

· Versioning

· Content Sharing and Branching

· Integrated Search Engine

· RSS

· File Manager

· Navigation Manager

· BLOGS

· FORUMS

· Polls

· Search Engine Optimization Friendly

· Automatic Sitemap for Search Engines

· Multilingual Support

· Content Tags

· Page Preview

· Workflow Manager

· Page Template Controls

Benefits:
• Reduce expenses by having non-technical staff publish changes to a Website.
• Reduce the risk of losing clients due to out-dated content.
• Enforce compliance with corporate standards (e.g. layout, font size, background colors).
• Empower marketing and sales teams to make their own changes and publish live within minutes, forgoing typical turnaround times of days or weeks.
• Small learning curve to update the content due to use of a familiar Web browser interface.

Let us know if we can give you a custom quote for a CMS implementation for your business. You'll be glad you did!

Motorsports Marketing, Solar Velocity and the Petit Le Mans

clock October 3, 2008 09:18 by author sburkey
Solar Velocity attended the qualification events for the Petit Le Mans on October 2, 2008 at Road Atlanta.

Jason Swenk, Co-Founder of Solar Velocity and I (Scott Burkey, Director of Business Development for Solar Velocity), spent the day at Road Atlanta discussing marketing and sponsorship concepts with both race team owners and motorsports product companies.

One of the true priveleges of the day that we had was being hosted by the Walker Racing Team (www.walkerracing.com) out of Indianapolis, Indiana. Les Channen, the Team Manager, was a wealth of information and a great guy that spent a lot of time with us in between qualification events and managing the crew in the tech area. Derrick Walker, team owner, spent some time with us sharing his insight into racing, business and sponsorship marketing. He is a true legend in the racing world and a true gentleman.

Solar Velocity works with motorsports teams to provide outstanding creative, design, website and marketing collateral for their teams and sponsor organizations.
